Confluence Data Center alternative

An alternative to Confluence Data Center.

Confluence Data Center means running your own servers. SWCOLLAB runs them for you: managed hosting on servers in Germany, so your data stays in Europe.

You get one workspace for documentation, work tracking and requirements — not a wiki that needs three more tools around it.

No card. No automatic upgrade.

A restricted space's document library in SWCOLLAB, with versions and seals

Managed for you, with your data in Europe.

The hosted SWCOLLAB runs in Falkenstein, Germany, on an encrypted volume, with encrypted backups in Helsinki, Finland. We run the servers, the updates and the backups.

  • servers in Germany, backups in Finland
  • encrypted storage and encrypted backups
  • restricted spaces, each encrypted under its own key
  • an audit trail of the actions in your workspace

Administration does not mean access.

Organisation administrators invite users, manage accounts and deactivate leavers. But an administrator who is not a member of a private space cannot browse its contents. Platform administration and content access are kept apart.

A wiki that knows the work.

Pages hold rich text, panels, diagrams, comments and complete version history. Next to them, databases hold tasks, requirements, risks and tests, with nine views from table and board to Gantt and pivot. Pages embed live views of those records, and traceability comes from the links between them.

How the move works

  1. Sign up

Create a workspace for free and build a space with your own content. It takes minutes, and no card.

  2. Bring in your team

Take Plus or Business, free for three months during the beta, and work in it for real.

  3. Set who sees what

Organise the work in spaces, set permissions, and protect sensitive spaces with their own key.

Questions

Who runs the servers?

We do. SWCOLLAB is managed hosting on servers in Falkenstein, Germany, with encrypted backups in Helsinki, Finland.

Can I run it on my own servers instead?

Not from this site — SWCOLLAB here is the managed cloud. Self-hosted swCollab is offered on sovereignworkspace.org.

Can an administrator read every space?

No. Administration and content access are separate. An administrator who is not a member of a private space cannot open it.

Does SWCOLLAB replace Jira too?

Yes. Tasks, requirements, risks and tests live in databases next to your pages, on boards, tables, calendars and Gantt charts.

Need it on your own servers? SWCOLLAB on this site is the managed cloud, hosted for you in Germany. To run swCollab on your own infrastructure, see Sovereign Workspace.
